King Rama V Memorial Day (October 23, 2007)

In 1910, the King had been suffered from the chronic kidney illness from which he died on the date of 23 rd October 1910, this day was known by the Thai people as "Won Piya Maharaj" or "The day of the beloved and great King of Thailand," and known to the foreigner as "Chulalongkorn Day". In Thailand in the date of his death 23 rd October is a national holiday, it is the beginning of the winter, on which thousand of people converge upon the ceremony of paying homage at the foot of his statue with colourful flowers of memorial wreaths.
